Seit 1982 drehen sich im Optimal die Plattenteller. Im Laufe der Jahre ist das Sortiment weit über das des Anfänglichen, Tonträger-haften hinausgewachsen und erweitert worden, auch durch Second-Hand-Schallplatten. Wir sind mehrfach umgezogen, aber konnten stets im Glockenbachviertel bleiben und landeten letztlich 1997 in der Kolosseumstraße 6, wo sich der Shop auch heute noch befindet.
Independent und dependent Pop/Rock, Hip Hop, Avantgarde/Experimental, New Wave, Punk, Kraut, Reggae, Drum & Bass, Disco, Soul/Funk, Klassik und sämtlicher elektronischer Musik von Ambient bis Techno, etc. geben wir ein Zuhause. Aus ca. 100000 Tonträgern aller Art nebst Sachbüchern zum Thema Musik, Biographien, Lyrik, Belletristik, sowie diversen Mags oder Plattentaschen, -koffern, auch Konzertkarten, können unsere Kunden schöpfen. Wir veranstalten Instore-Konzerte und Lesungen vor Ort oder begleiten solche z.B. auch in den Münchener Kammerspielen oder Literaturhaus.
Wichtig ist uns seit jeher guter Kontakt zu Münchener Labels, als da waren und wären: Alien Transistor, Compost, Disko B, Echokammer, Gomma, Gutfeeling, Illian Tape, International DJ Gigolo, Pastamusik, Perfect Toy, Squama und Tramp Records, und last but not least natürlich zu unseren Kunden.
